Operations Overview

To better serve our customers in northern California, Nestlé Waters North America opened a new bottling facility in Sacramento in February 2010. Below are some basic facts about our operations in Sacramento, the jobs we have created since coming to the area and our continuing commitment to the Sacramento community:

Bottling Facility

Our 214,000 square-foot plant houses two production lines that can bottle up to 150 acre-feet of water annually. We bottle both our Nestlé Pure Life® brand Purified Water and Arrowhead® Mountain Spring Water in Sacramento and distribute in the area as well as to customers around northern California.

Before getting our new plant up and running, Nestlé Waters made significant improvements to the existing warehouse space we leased. We installed modern, efficient production lines consistent with our commitment to operating safe, clean and environmentally responsible bottling plants. Our initial investment in capital improvement and construction totaled approximately $14 million. Local contractors and their employees performed the majority of this work for us in 2009 and early 2010.

Operations

Nestlé Waters purifies water purchased from the City of Sacramento for our Nestlé Pure Life® brand. In addition, we bottle spring water from nearby private springs under our Arrowhead® brand.

Employment

During the equipment installation and building fit-out phase, we directly employed approximately 16 people. In addition, we hired more than 80 local contractors, tradesmen and their employees to complete the construction and installation. Now that the plant is fully operational, we employ 46 people and will continue to hire more employees as our production needs demand it and as positions become open. These jobs pay competitive wages and offer a generous array of benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, 401(k) and profit sharing.
